Biography

Branko started his career in 1979. He is well known in the region as somebody who has taken reporting to an artistic level. First and foremost, Pelinović is a television reporter but one that always looks at new, exciting and unique angles from which to portray his subjects. The world around him provides a constant source of inspiration and he shared his curiosity with us.

Even as a boy, he was acutely aware of his surroundings and human emotion while also finding it easier to express himself through a visual medium. It is no wonder that he gravitated towards a career in photography and it all started with a trip to the ‘Kino klub JNA’ which further developed his interest in photography.

Throughout his career he explored social themes such as loneliness, human destiny, culture, spirituality, social class and dilemmas we face in various stages of our lives.  His work has been exhibited throughout the world in over 100 independent as well as group exhibitions.

“Thanks to photography, mankind has been given a chance to observe it’s human environment and its existence with new eyes. I developed my own way to transfer my life vision into black and white colors, where white serves only to emphasize the black. That is why in the majority of my photos there is no beauty to cheer up ones heart, but only darkness touches it – sights that more often than not make us close our eyes.”

– Branko Pelinović
